You probably have cooked mac n cheese already. But if you follow this recipe you will eat your best mac n cheese ever !
1.5 pounds macaroni cooked
6 tablespoons flour
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoon mustard
6 cups of milk
1 cup onion
24 ounces cheddar cheese
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon of paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
For the topping:
2 cups bread crumb
6 tablesponns butter
Preheat the oven to 180 ° C
In a pot melt the butter. Add the mustard and the flour and mix for few minutes.
Add the milk, onion, paprika and bay leaves.
Cook over very low heat for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and remove the bay leaves.
Add in the egg (take care to not cook it!)
Add 3/4 of cheddar and mix again. Add salt and pepper to taste
In a baking pan combine the mixture with the cooked macaroni. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar
In a pan heat the butter and sauté the breadcrumb. Cover the dish with the sauted breadcrumbs
Bake for 30 minutes
